Reutilización de Residuos Sólidos como estrategia de Educación Ambiental desde la Escuela Superior de Ciencias Ambientales, en Acapulco de Juárez, Guerrero.

Abstract

This research work aims to propose a plan for an efficient management of Urban Solid Waste (USW), since it is a problem that affects human health and the environment, to achieve the objective the support of the students of the School of Environmental Sciences was sought. A SWOT diagnosis was carried out to identify the strengths and weaknesses within the academic unit, using a methodology with a mixed approach (qualitative-quantitative) involving participatory action, through a diagnosis of solid waste management. Workshops and meetings were held in virtual mode, due to the SARS Cov2 health contingency, and activities were proposed with the students for their development within their homes. For students living in urban areas, we worked with the reuse of inorganic waste, and at the end of the process they would be taken to recycling companies or, failing that, to organizations that help a humanitarian cause. On the other hand, students in rural areas carried out the same practices, in addition to helping their families with the installation of small vegetable gardens with the reuse of some materials. Environmental education and good practices can help minimize MSW and lead society towards sustainable development.
