The construction of a citizenry that makes decisions critically and based on scientific thought isone of the greatest challenges of our times. The dissemination of science is positioned as a valuable resourceto achieve this purpose, communicating scientific knowledge in an affordable way to a non-specialistaudience. However, outreach activities are scarce, especially for boys and girls, making it difficult to promotescientific vocations. Therefore, the objective of this research was to present the program Sowing forResearch, which aims to promote interest in the dissemination of science among girls and boys in basiceducation, through the line of research strategies and technologies for learning, as well as describing thepreliminary results of the first generation of girls divulgers. The research approach was qualitative, throughphenomenology, and discussion groups were held with the girls, their mothers and three collaborators of theprogram. Among the main results we have that the girl communicators during their participation in theprogram developed skills that are not recognized as common among boys and girls of their age, so they werefigures to follow among their peers and figures of admiration among more advanced students and adults. It isconcluded that a scientific dissemination program in basic education is a relevant resource complementary toformal education, to promote early scientific vocations, as well as to increase the possibilities of socialmobility of participants, especially in children from places of high marginalization.
