Abstract

This thesis had as object of study, the territory of the community, of San Miguel Chiepetlán, located in the municipality of Tlapa de Comonfort in the Montaña de Guerrero. The objective of the research project was to understand the way in which individuals construct territorial meanings, by studying an aspect of the interaction of individuals with the symbolic or experiential space, in relation to its structural and functional facets. The key question in this research was the following: How do individuals construct spatial and territorial symbols? The thesis solves this problem from the theoretical and methodological perspective of symbolic anthropology, ethnohistory and cultural geography.
