Historically, rural communities and wildlife have maintained a close relationship, based on traditional knowledge that includes biological, ecological, cultural and historical aspects of animal species, as well as management techniques and use as a source of food or for other purposes. The objective of this research was to document the use and cultural value of wild fauna species among the community of small farmer coffee producers of San Vicente de Benitez, Guerrero, Mexico, through the application of questionnaires (n=60), semi-structured interviews (n=8), a participatory workshop and the determination of the cultural importance index for each species.
