The increasing of criminal violence over the last decade in Mexico has been influencing the development of electoral processes. The objective of this research is to analyze how violence has been influencing the elections in Guerrero and Michoacán from 2007 to 2015. A qualitative and descriptive analysis will explore how criminal violence has been affecting political actors during their candidacy, whether campaigning or while in office, using three indicators: homicides, kidnappings, threats. The research will also be used to verify what is the incidence in electoral matter, in the municipalities with higher violence levels. It can be argue that the normality of electoral processes is being altered in contexts of criminal violence generating distortion of them.
