La vulnerabilidad en comunidades pesqueras de Acapulco, Guerrero: Percepciones y propuestas desde sus cooperativas.
Abstract
This research analyzes the perceptions and situations of the members of two fishing cooperatives in the port city of Acapulco, one dedicated to fishing in the open sea and the other in situated in the Tres Palos lagoon. The thesis followed a research-action approach by applying surveys to members of these cooperatives to determine in which types of vulnerabilities they live and what specific situation had placed them in "a vulnerable state" from when they joined the cooperative until now. This was done with the purpose of understanding whether a Savings and Loan (CAP for its acronym in Spanish) initiative could work as a strategy to address market-related problems which could prevent future conditions of vulnerability.
